Review: Beds

This is not gonna be one of those “‘MTV: Cribs” “this is where the magic happens” kinda deals, but about how awesome having a decent bed to lie down in is.
A while back I was crawling into my own bed after an especially tiring day and had a rare flash of awareness at just how thankful I should be for having a bed to lie down in. I became suddenly conscious of how nice it was just to let all my weight be held up by the mattress and let my body completely relax, heading sinking down into the pillow. How nice it was just to be still and quiet and have no demands on me other than rest. This enlightenment didn’t last long, but I enjoyed it while it did and remember it fondly.
I have been in situations where I’ve had to sleep or try to go to sleep in places other than a bed. Cars, airplane seats, floors, sleeping bags, waiting rooms, etc. There is no substitute.
One of my favorite things ever is waking up in the middle of the night and realizing that I have hours more left to sleep and getting to fully enjoy the drowsy comfort of my own bed. Waking up with either a cool breeze or a fan blowing on me with the luxury of not having to be anywhere for a while is wonderful, too.
And that’s just sleeping and almost-sleeping. You can read in them, play on them, watch TV from them and do other things which are wonderful and honorable but best not discussed in public in them. You can store things under them and hang things from their posts.
Beds are great. If you have one, be thankful for it!
